Representative of her paintings Dalia comes from a diverse and colorful background. Dalia was born in Israel to a French Moroccan father and a Spanish mother. She spent the first ten years of her life experiencing the rich dichotomy and cultural diversity that is life in Israel.
While growing up, Dalia, a self-taught artist, always had a passion for art and drawing. After working in the field of marketing, she finally let her imagination run free and took over a canvas for the first time in a style that became her own.
"I'm always inspired by beautiful scenery but I never quite know how the painting will transpire or where my imagination will lead me. I start the painting process by layering the canvas with ripped pieces of textured paper or gesso and then I apply color washes. I proceed to apply thick layers of paint. The painting quickly builds and takes a life of its own with vibrant colors and textures."
Intriguing use of brilliant colors and sensual shapes make her paintings a constant and ever evolving feast for the eyes and mind. Whether taking a shape of a woman and intermingling it with a vase of flowers or creating a thought provoking abstract landscape, she allows the vividness and richness of the colors to bring the figures and objects to life.
Dalia studied marketing at the Ohio State University and Columbus State. Steadily selling and exhibiting her work through the years she achieved her life - long dream of becoming a full time artist. Dalia's work can be found in private collections both locally and internationally.
"When creating a painting I’m not attempting to recreate reality. I’m inspired by beautiful scenery, but in my mind the colors and textures are ever evolving and swirling to form a more surreal and passionate view of what is before me. By using more intense and exaggerated colors, textures, and forms , I express my inner self in a way that comes through on my canvas, and is more pleasing to the eye."
