Elizabeth Bulkley Testa is a fine artist born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. As a great-great-great granddaughter of the late Joseph G. Butler, she began attending children’s art classes at the Butler Museum of American Art. Her passion for the arts blossomed from there, soon exploding into exploring every aspect of the arts. She won numerous awards and slowly began to develop a portfolio beginning at the Youngstown State University. She was accepted into the post secondary program there, where Professor Al Bright took Elizabeth under his wing. From there she realized her passion was in painting, and began to excel in artist career.
Upon high school graduation, she then moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend the Ohio State University. Majoring in Fine Arts, she lived in Columbus and was very active within the artists’ community. She volunteered at the Columbus Museum of Art teaching children’s art classes and was active in the many gallery hops in the Short North. Elizabeth also exhibited frequently and has won various awards on local, state, and national levels.
Elizabeth uses words and color to express emotions. She often says her art is like a journal to her, expressing her inner most thoughts and emotions. “In art, the possibilities are endless,” she exclaims. Elizabeth currently lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband Chris and is active in the Raleigh Art Community, but still feels that her true artistic roots remain in Ohio. She enjoys exhibiting in Ohio and visits frequently.
