MEET ELLEN AT THE GALLERY ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28 FOR HER HOLIDAY TRUNK SHOW.

I grew up in Mansfield, Ohio and attended Bowling Green State University before earning a Bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Psychology and Elementary Education. I continued my education at the UC’s D.A.A.P. (Design, Art and Architectural Planning) school.

I lived in Cincinnati 14 years and worked for Kenner Products in the planning and catalogue layout department. I also began painting murals in 1976.

In 1981, I relocated to Mansfield, Ohio as a sales representative for General Mills Toy Group. When that division of the company disbanded in 1984, I went back to painting murals in homes and offices. For four years I was the buyer for the Mansfield Art Center and expanded my appreciation for new creative pursuits in the process.

In early 2000 I began working with beads, primarily making jewelry for relatives and friends. Since those first forays into a new medium, I now display my creations in nearly twenty galleries all over Ohio as well as neighboring states. My work is not limited to jewelry as I create beaded pens, letter openers, wine stoppers, condiment sets, key rings and purse charms.

Now, I’m on the second “phase” of my creativity as I especially enjoy weaving and creating “cluster” necklaces and bracelets. My favorite beads are fresh water pearls and Swarovski crystal which I incorporate into nearly every piece of my work.
