When traveling down the road of life both present and past we all have things that pick us up and bring us down. As we stand before God and man, we beg the question why and where will this spinning rock in space take us? And, how did we even get here in the first place?
This body of work will take you down the road of my life and the lives of those around me. I have filled each painting with love, energy, fatigue, fighting, crying, rejoicing, singing and dancing. The truth is I am an everyday guy who goes to work in the morning and comes home in the evening to place color on blank canvas and pieces of wood. These works act as a blueprint or transparency of my life and the world in which we all live. I am not trying to re-invent the art world or come up with a new style. I am simply telling you a story and using my God-given talents to open a door into the life inside my head. My hope is not only to make great art, but also to help others who have struggled in their own ways and with their own issues find healing for their minds and hearts. This is really all of our stories on the walls tonight. I hope you are blessed and enjoy the “Zoloft Experience.”
Who is Kevin Bickle?
He's sometimes bearded, sometimes not; kind of short, but not too tall, and the kind of guy that likes to work hard, see results and have fun all at the same time. In creating larger-than-life paintings that are full of color and life's expressions, he's a man on a mission to bring his art and thoughts to the world without standing on a soapbox.
Kevin has exhibited and sold his paintings internationally in Benin, and the Philippines as well as nationally in New York City, Milwaukee, Virginia, Texas and Ohio. He has shown successfully in both solo shows and in juried group exhibitions, and considers himself as much a philanthropist as an artist.
One of his passions is contributing to many great charitable causes such as Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence, Columbus AIDS Taskforce, Pelotonia and Hear the Cry. This last organization helps to deliver medication to AIDS orphans and raises awareness for poverty stricken areas all around the globe.
Kevin’s art has also been heavily influenced by the blessing of work over the past fourteen years, along with a hands-on study of master works by Picasso, de Kooning, Giacometti, and his favorite, Jean Dubuffet. His time spent absorbing the master’s brush strokes may cause you to recognize an echo of these great masters in his work along with influences of his faith and life experiences. Kevin currently resides in Westerville, Ohio with his wife, son, and his two dogs, a Boxer and a Basenji.
