MELODIE THOMPSON'S FIRST SOLO SHOW AT HAYLEY GALLERY "GEOLOGY: WORKS OF WONDER" ON DISPLAY THROUGH APRIL 13.

Artist Statement for Melodie's Show:"This series was inspired by my intrigue with small things. An interesting shell I discovered one day while walking on the beach, small rocks I found with fossil imprints in the river. Spending countless hours observing the surf, watching the light reflect and change its colors, to see what treasures it might reveal. For me, each one was like a gift. The color, pattern and textures of each found item spoke to me. This series, I guess you could say, has been developing for years in my heart."

Born and raised on a farm in Leesburg, Indiana and then living in North Carolina for several years, Melodie now resides and paints in her studio in Worthington, Ohio. She became a part of the art community at an early age; teaching classes, painting murals, supporting philanthropic efforts and entering her work in galleries and shows across the country.

Melodie studied oil painting and art history at Grace College in Indiana. Pieces form her work can be found in private collections from North Carolina to California. Inspired in the company of creative friends – she is always learning and loves to experiment with new mediums.
